Lyra's career has ranged from guiding rock climbs in Yosemite, to leading expeditions to the summits of Denali and Mount Elbrus, and ice climbing on the ice towers of Mt. Erebus, Antarctica to facilitate geology research. Lyra is currently a Certified Rock Guide with the American Mountain Guides Association (AMGA), as well as an Avalanche Instructor with the American Institute for Avalanche Research and Education (AIARE). Lyra's favorite personal ascents range from sport and traditional rock climbs up to 5.12 in difficulty, to grade IV rock climbs in the High Sierra, and a day ascent of Moonlight Buttress, a grade V big wall in Zion National Park. She has enjoyed spring ski descents in the Cascades such as Rainier’s Fuhrer Finger. She also teaches mountaineering for the University of Alaska, Fairbanks Girls On Ice program, and enjoys guiding the myriad instructional courses throughout Washington for “The Madness.”
