I'm a Physician Assistant in Orthopedics and Emergency Medicine and have been skiing the backcountry since 1999. I completed my AIARE Instructor Training Course in Feb 2023. I started on my American Mountain Guide Association Ski Guide track and am currently an Apprentice Guide. In 2017 I became Faculty for International Mountain Medicine Center and teach every winter Introduction to Avalanche training, Avalanche Rescue and Crevasse Rescue for our Diploma in Mountain Medicine Students. I have been seasonally employed by San Juan Expeditions as an instructor from 2021-2024. I have the amazing opportunity to serve as a tail guide with Alaska Powder Descents in Juneau Alaska. Having been in Academic Medicine my entire career, I bring a research based focus to all of my courses and have a love for teaching that spans further than just the Avalanche world.
