John has been teaching avalanche courses since 2012, including Level 1 and 2 courses through Prescott College and Awareness Courses through the Northwest Avalanche Center. Since 2019, John has been teaching AIARE Courses with a variety of providers in the Pacific Northwest. He currently works out of Portland, Oregon and teaches avalanche programs on Mt Hood in the winter, and guides mountaineering, rock climbing, and skiing in Oregon and Washington.
